Blah! It's supposed to be Spring and we got a BUNCH of snow on Tuesday night into Wednesday. It's still here. It's the thick heavy wet kind of snow that refuses to go away. So our little taste of Spring we had a few weeks ago is a faint memory.
I had my 6 month check-up with my endochronologist and had some not-so-good news. My A1C (a 3 month average of your blood sugars) was 7.0 - compared to 6.1 last time. As a diabetic, they want that under 7.0. On top of that, I had gained about 20 pounds! Yes! 20! He was not pleased, and neither was I. He wanted to increase my diabetes meds, but I said "no". Then he asked, "well, what do you want to do then?". I said I would try to do better in the food/exercise categories. If it's not better at the next 6 month check-up, he said I will have to adjust my meds (meaning: increase or go back to insulin).
So this is my new plan. Stop buying/eating all the JUNK I have been eating. Stop making excuses for not going to the gym. Refer to earlier days of drinking protein shakes and healthy snacks. I have to remind myself of how hard I worked to lose that weight and get healthy. How horrible I felt when I was heavier. I don't want to go back there. It just wasn't a good thing.
If you see me with a candy bar or a bag of chips in my hand, slap it out of my hand!
Wishing you all a Spring sometime soon. Wishing me the willpower to get healthy again!
